Summer Cultural Events for 2008
The first Sunday in August (3rd) sees the continuation of the Folkloric theme with an International Dance Meeting taking place featuring the "Kimon" Xylotimpou Dancing Group and again other International groups at the Central Square. The attention then moves to the Seferis Square on the 10th August and takes a totally different direction by presenting a Rock Music night with the Rock Group "Sulphur".
Mid August sees 4 days of events in a row, 14th August sees the 2nd Full Moon Night event down by the Harbour. "The Songs of Love" is the theme presented by "That's Amore" Musical Group. On the 15th August the event takes place back in the Central Square in Ayia Napa with Greek Laiki Music with the Musical Group "Protasi" and again on the 17th but this time with a special tribute to the legend "Stelios Kasantsidis". In between these two events on the 16th August, a Jazz night takes place with the Yiannis Mirallis Musical Band which will happen at the Sefereis Square.
After a short rest, the events return on the 24th at the Central Square with the "Rythmos" Dancing group providing the entertainment ala Latin & Flamenco style and a week later the "Rymvos" Dancing group present Greek Cinema at the Sefereis Square. All events again take place at 21.00hrs (9pm) and are free of charge.
September doesn't let up either and in October the Zorbas Festival Guinness World Records, the 3rd and final Full moon night's takes place. News coming up in a later article.
