To be permitted to drive in Cyprus, visitors must hold either a valid international driving license or their national driving license, provided it is valid for the class of vehicle they wish to drive.
Driving is on the left-hand side of the road. International road traffic signs are in use, and placed on the left hand side of roads and motorways.
Distances and speed limits are posted in Kilometres and kilometres per hour ( km/h ) respectively.
The speed limit on the motorway is 100 km/h with a minimum of 65 km/h. On all other roads the speed limit is 80 km/h, unless otherwise indicated.
In built up areas the speed limit is usually 50 km/h, unless otherwise indicated.While Driving, the driver must ensure that his/her hands are free at all times in order to have full control of the vehicle.
If possible avoid driving west in the late afternoon, as a glare of the setting sun can be disturbing and potentially dangerous.
