Getting Married in Cyprus

Registry Office Weddings

There are two kinds of registry office weddings:

Marriage by Notice.... and......Marriage by Special License.

The main difference is that the Marriage by Notice requires 15 days of proceedings before the actual ceremony can take place, and a minimum stay of 20 days in Cyprus.

Marriage by Special License can be performed within 3 - 4 days.

In both cases the maximum validity of the license is 3 months. However, Marriage by Notice costs less than Marriage by Special License. For both licenses the following documentation is needed:

  • Passports
  • Birth Certificates
  • 'Decree of Absolute' if divorcee
  • Death Certificate if widow/er
  • Affidavit
